A treasured new home at the Victoria Falls Hotel

For more than a century, the Victoria Falls Hotel has been a destination unlike any other; a grand icon of African hospitality and an eternal witness to the wonders of one of the world’s greatest natural treasures. It fills us with immense joy that it is now home to our newest boutique too.

A family connection deepened

Our family has long held a deep affection for the Victoria Falls Hotel. Its verandas and sweeping lawns have welcomed explorers, travellers, and dreamers since 1904, offering them the best view of the thundering Falls and the iconic railway bridge that links Zimbabwe and Zambia. To us, the hotel has always been more than a place to stay, it is a symbol of heritage, storytelling, and the shared joy of travel. Having the opportunity to open a boutique within its walls is not only an honour but a heartfelt continuation of our family’s journey.

The heart of Victoria Falls

Often called ‘the grand old lady of the Falls’, the Victoria Falls Hotel is steeped in history. Originally built by the British South Africa Company, its purpose was to accommodate travellers arriving on the Cape-to-Cairo railway line. Over the decades, it has played host to royals, dignitaries, and adventurers alike, each drawn to the hotel’s unique combination of Edwardian elegance and African spirit. Today, it remains under the custodianship of local owners, a beacon of timeless hospitality that continues to captivate guests from all corners of the world.

Where legends meet

Of course, the hotel’s true magic lies in its setting. Just a short walk from the main terrace, the mighty Victoria Falls (known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘The Smoke That Thunders’), crashes into the Zambezi gorge, sending up mist and rainbows that dance in the air. This breathtaking natural wonder has inspired explorers, artists, and poets for generations, and continues to enchant all who stand before it. To be able to invite our friends to discover our silver creations here, at the edge of such majesty, feels profoundly special.

An invitation to visit

This new boutique marks our second home in Victoria Falls, joining our original space in the town itself. Together, they allow us to share the spirit of Africa with those who come to experience the wonder of the Falls. Whether you are staying at the hotel or simply passing through on your travels, we warmly invite you to visit us and to step into our world of craftsmanship, storytelling, and family.

5 lesser-known facts about the Victoria Falls

1. It's home to a rainforest that always rains

The intense spray from the falls creates its own ecosystem, a rainforest that, uniquely on Earth, receives continuous rain from the rising mist.

2. A nighttime rainbow exists

Victoria Falls is one of the few places in the world where you can witness a moonbow, a faint rainbow formed by moonlight instead of sunlight.

3. A section of the falls can dry up

During the dry season, especially in the height of it, one of the falls, the eastern cataract, can dry up completely.

4. You can swim to the edge of the falls

In Zambia, on the Zambian side, during the low-water season, visitors can swim in the Devil's Pool. This natural pool allows you to swim right up to the edge of the cliff before the water plummets into the gorge below, an exhilarating experience.

5. It's located in two national parks

Victoria Falls lies on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, and it is protected by two national parks. These parks ensure the preservation of the falls and their surrounding ecosystems, offering wildlife viewing opportunities alongside the magnificent waterfall.
